On February 13, 2016 the Memorial FD held its annual banquet at Station 89. The banquet committee did a great job and a good time was had by all. Special thanks to Chief Bobby Johnson and his members from South Bowers FD for covering for us during our event. We had a super surprise with all of the new customized chairs that our Ladies Auxiliary had purchased for us. Thank you so much. After our cocktail hour and dinner the program began. Thanks to Indian River FD President Patrick Miller for serving as MC. Del. State Fire Chief's Association Past President Steve "Redman" Maichle's installed our officers. We had several service awards this year with 2 being 50 year members. First, Alan Jester who has served more years as Fire Chief than any other Chief and has been a Fire Policeman for more than 15 years. Representatives Harvey Kenton & George Carey read Resolutions from the House and Senate and then he was presented his 50 yr Axe. Bill Tobin was presented his 50 year Axe for his service to the Goodwill FD of New Castle, Lewes FD, American Legion Ambulance Co. Sta. 93 & the Memorial FD. Goodwill Past Chief Dave Majewski, Lewes FD Vice Pres. Charlie Arnold, Rep. Kenton and Carey made remarks on Bill's service to the FD's in our State and the leadership that he brings. Congrats to Alan and Bill. Our 2015 Firefighter of the Year is Marine Captain Keith Bennett. This award was so well deserved for the time and dedication Keith gives to our community. Congrats. We had 25 door prizes that were given out and we hope you all enjoy them plus each member was given a custom knife with our logo on them. Thanks to all that attended and again thanks to the banquet committee fo a nice event.
