Back to back assists for Memorial - Milton and Milford
April 13, 2009
At around 4 am today, Sussex EOC alerted 85, 75, and 82 for a structure fire in the area of Mulberry Street Extended. Command 85 arrived and found a house under construction fully involved and immediately called for Tanker 89 to respond. Memorial responded with Tanker 89 and engine 89-1. As crews were working that fire scene, Sussex advised Command 85 of a second working alarm in his district which was handled by 82 and 77 units. As 89 units were clearing the original scene, they were dispatched to assist the Carlise fire company with a working hotel fire at the Hampton Inn off Bay road. The hotel was under construction and due to open in a month. At the height of the fire there were over 25 companies and over 60 pieces of apparatus working the fire scene. No injuries were reported and the cause is still under investigation by the Delaware State Fire Marshall's Office.
