On Friday January 15, 2021, at approximately 0746 hours, the Memorial Volunteer Fire Company along with Paramedics from 101 were dispatched to Coastal Highway and Argos Corner Road for a motor vehicle collision. Ambulance A-89 went responding with a crew of two. While responding, the EOC advised that the vehicle was on its side with unknown entrapment. A-89 located the MVC on Coastal Highway just North of Slaughter Beach Road. The pickup was on its driver's side into a wooded area. The driver was located outside of the vehicle standing on the side of the road. The driver was taken to A-89, where he was checked out by the crew from A-89 and Paramedics from 101. Engine 89-2 responded with a crew of five under the direction of Fire Chief Jester. Engine/Tanker 89-5 responded with a crew of 4 under the direction of Asst. Chief Reynolds. Fire Police and DelDot were on scene assisting with traffic due to the heavy fog in the area. The vehicle was secured by the crews and DNREC was notified regarding an active gas leak from the vehicle. The incident was placed under control by Chief Jester. a patient refusal was obtain by the EMS units on scene.
