Water Rescue on Jetty

Thursday, July 19, 2018
Around 1:15 pm today Station 89 was dispatched for a boat into the Mispillion jetty. 89-15, A-89, 89-11 responded to the boat ramp. Upon the report from the EOC Sta 40, 57, 82 boats were dispatched along with the USCG & DNREC. DSP Trooper 2 and USCG Helicopter both were hovering and giving assessments. Marine 89 arrived on scene of a 20 foot boat on its side on top of the jetty with 1 person on board. M89 layed side to the boat on the jetty and Chief Jester and Asst Chief Bennett boarded the vessel to help the patient get on M89. What caused the victims boat to get on the jetty happened again by 2 boats flying by and their large wakes rocked the boat enough to come off the jetty. With luck there were no holes poked thru the hull. The patient was then put on M89 and treated by the Emts. M89 did a side tow and took the boat to the Cedar Creek boat ramp with Dnrec and Uscg escorting. The patient was assessed by the County Medics and Uscg Helicopter Medic before being transported to Beebe Hospital. Thanks to all that helped
