Memorial Fire Company and DVFA participate in 2009 Presidential inauguration - Washington D.C.
Thursday, July 19, 2018
On one of the most historic days of US history in our lifetime, the Memorial Fire
company along with the DVFA were invited to participate in the inauguration of
President Barack Obama. Delaware's own Joe Biden was chosen to be President Obama's
running mate and was also sworn in as the Vice President of the USA. The Delaware
Volunteer fire service sent 450 representatives to DC to march in the parade. Also each
county provided one piece of apparatus. New Castle was represented by Elsmere and
President of the DVFA Warren Jones, Kent by Clayton and 1st VP Kevin Wilson, and
Sussex by Memorial and 2nd VP Bill Tobin. We would like to wish the best of luck to
President Obama and Vice President Biden and also thank the inaugural committee for
the opportunity to take part in such a pivotal point in American history.
